Dato' Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Saleh Jaafar

Consultant Higher Education Blueprint

 

Prof. Dato' Ir. Dr. Mohd Saleh Bin Jaafar received BSc (Civil Engineering) from Michigan State University, MS (Structures) from the University of Sheffield. He has been in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) since 1985 and earned his P.Eng in 1992. Prof Saleh was Head of Dean of Engineering 2007-2010 and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) 2011-2013. Prof Saleh is now serving the Ministry of Education as Consultant to the Higher Education Blueprint. In addition to being engaged in academic leadership at the university, Prof Saleh also has active involvement, in various capacities, with Public Work Department, CIDB, MQA, IEM, and Board of Engineers, Malaysia.

Prof. Dato' Ir. Dr. Riza Atiq Abdullah

 

Prof. Dato' Ir. Dr. Riza Atiq Abdullah obtained his B.Eng. (Civil Engineering) in 1980, M.Eng (Transportation Engineering) in 1991 from UTM and PhD (Intelligent Transport System) from UKM in 2002.  He started his academic carrier in UKM in 1994 after working as an Engineer with City Hall of Kuala Lumpur for 14 years. In City Hall he developed a transport model for Kuala Lumpur and surrounding area for planning purposes and database for road accident. He has five intellectual properties, three books, more than 100 scientific research papers and 14 innovation awards including one from Geneva, three from Korea and one from Institution of Engineers, Malaysia. His research is mainly in Intelligent Transport System and Engineering Education. His professional expertise includes bridge design, urban transport planning, urban transport management, road safety and sustainable urban transport. He was the Director of Centre for Academic Advancement before assuming post of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 1st January 2014. While holding the post, he initiated the formulation of 11 policies to transform the curriculum and teaching-learning practices in UKM. His professional qualification includes being a professional engineer (Civil Engineers, Board of Engineers Malaysia) and member of Road Engineering Association of Asia and Australasia. He is also a lead assessor for Engineering Accreditation Council, Board of Engineers, Malaysian Qualification Agency and Asean University Network.

 

 Dr. Tayeb Brahimi

Dr. Tayeb Brahimi, Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), at Effat University, Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, received his Ph.D. (1992) and Master Degree (1987) from Ecole Polytechnique, University of Montreal, Canada. He has worked as Research Scientist under Bombardier Chair/Canadair from 1992 to 1998. In 1998 he joined Jeppesen DataPlan in California as a Programmer Analyst, then Peregrine System, a B2B company in Concord (CA), as a technical Support Analyst, then as Quality Assurance Engineer and Consultant for EDI commercial software in Dallas, Texas, providing strategic support, guidance and technical resolution of problems related to Electronic data interchange (EDI), Electronic Software Download (ESD) and online web application. He is internationally recognized for his contribution to the development of teaching and research programs between university and government Institutions. He received internationally recognized awards and performed a leading role for a distinguished institution (Bombardier Chair/University of Montreal). He is consultant at IONPARA Inc. for wind turbines and Aeronautics consulting, he published more than 80 articles in scientific journals, international conferences, and internal technical reports on aircraft icing, wind turbines, and methodologies of teaching and learning. Current research interests relate to the use of technology to support learning, student assessment strategies, collaborative learning (COL), educational engineering, MOOCS, Communities of Practice as well as research on wind energy development, wind turbines modeling, testing and quality assurance for component-based software, knowledge management, and integrating Islamic innovative heritage into the Higher Education Curricula.

 

Professor Hamdani Saidi

Professor Hamdani Saidi is currently The Managing Director of Business Development, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) He has more than 35 years of experience in academic management, teaching research and consultancy. He received his Ph.d. in Chemical Engineering from Bradford University, UK in 1988. His expertise is in advanced processes and separation techniques, which include membrane separation systems, process design, fuel cell technology and pyrolysis processes. He has pioneered innovative research programs in these areas for the past 30 years. To date he has received more than 20 millions Ringgit Malaysia in research grants from government and companies. He founded Institute of Hydrogen Economy (IHE) to spearhead R&D in green energy in 2008.His research findings have been widely published in renowned journals such as Hydrogen Energy Journal, Chemical Engineering Journal, Journal of Power sources, Journal of Polymer Science, Polymer International, Journal of Material Science and Technology, Journal of New Material for Electrochemical Systems and Polymer Degradation and Stability Journal. He has also presented his works at national and international conferences.

 

 Professor Dr. Mohd Fua’ad Rahmat

Professor Dr. Mohd Fua’ad Rahmat graduated from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in the field of electrical engineering in 1989. He received his master’s degree in Control System from The University of Sheffield in 1993 and his PhD degree in Instrumentation Engineering from Sheffield Hallam University in 1996. His career started as an Assistant Lecturer in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Kuala Lumpur in 1990.  He became a Lecturer in 1997 and an Associate Professor in the year 2000. He became a Professor in Control and Instrumentation Engineering in the year 2011. He served as a graduate faculty member and the Head of the Off-Campus Programme from 1998 till 2008. He also being appointed as a Head of Control and Instrumentation Engineering Department in between year 2011 and 2012.  From the year 2013 till 2014, he was the Post-graduate Academic Coordinator of Taught Course Programme in the faculty.  In 2015, he was appointed as the Dean of School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPACE) at UTMSPACE.  He taught control system engineering courses  at the university in undergraduate and postgraduate level. As an academician, Mohd Fuaad’s research interests are in the areas of control system, Instrumentation, Process Tomography and system identification and estimation.  He has published more than 300 papers in International Journals and Conferences in the area of Control System and Instrumentation. He has also supervised successfully 10 PhD's and 7 Master’s by research in similar disciplines. Currently his H-index is 14 from the Google Scholar Citation.

 

Professor. Dr. Rosnah Mohd. Yusuff

Professor. Dr. Rosnah Mohd. Yusuff is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia. She obtained her first degree from the University of Iowa, USA and her Masters degree from the same University in Industrial Engineering and Management and her PhD from Universiti Putra Malaysia in Manufacturing Systems. Her research areas of interest are ergonomics in systems and product design, work related muscular skeletal disorders, systems modeling, SCM and in Technology management. She has published around 200 papers in journals and international conferences. She is currently an executive council member and Vice President of the Malaysian society of Engineering and Technology, editorial committee of Asian Journal of Ergonomics and Asian journal of Science and Technology in Production and Manufacturing Engineering (AIJSTPME). She has also represented Malaysia in South East Asia network of Ergonomics (SEANES). 

 

Professor. Dr. Fakhru'l-Razi Ahmadun

Professor. Dr. Fakhru'l-Razi Ahmadun joined Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 1981 and was promoted to Professor in 2007. He was the Dean of Engineering from 2011 till 2014. Before that he was invited to be the Chair Professor of the Prince Khalid Bin Sultan Chair at King Saud University, Riyadh, from 2009 to 2010. He was appointed the Deputy Director of the Institute of Advanced Technologies from 2010 till 2011 and Research Management Centre (UPM) from 2005 to 2009. He was the Head of Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering from 1 July 1998 till 31 Jan 2004. He graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Chemical Engineering in 1979 and M.Sc. in Environmental Pollution Control in 1980 from the University of Leeds (UK), and a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering in 1996 from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne (UK). As an academician, Fakhru'l-Razi's research interests are in the areas of environmental engineering, nanotechnology; and safety and emergency management. Eleven of his research products have been filed for patents of which two are presently being commercialized. He has been conferred 9 special awards and numerous other recognitions at national and international levels for various research achievements. He has also supervised successfully 5 Post-docs, 17 PhD's and scores of MSc's in similar disciplines. Locally and internationally, he has often been invited as keynote and invited speaker for various conferences, seminars and workshops. Fakhru’l-Razi has over 350 publications of which over 190 are in various international journals.

 

Dr. Tinia Idaty Mohd Ghazi

Dr. Tinia Idaty Mohd Ghazi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the Universiti Putra Malaysia. She successfully obtained a Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph. D.) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom in 2005. At current, Dr. Tinia is active in her researches concerning the renewable energy, wastewater treatment and photochemical technology. She is also enthusiastically involved with the students’ soft skills improvement programmes and the community engagement.

 

 Prof. Dr. Durmuş Günay

Prof. Dr. Durmuş Günay graduated from Istanbul Technical University as a mechanical engineer in 1976. He received his master’s degree from Ege University in 1980 and his PhD degree from Dokuz Eylul University in 1986.. He worked as an expert in Post-Secondary Vocational and Technical School Project of the Council of Higher Education/Work Bank in Ankara. He also went to England for a while. He became an Assistant Professor in 1986 and an Associate Professor in 1991. He was a faculty member at Istanbul Technical University and Sakarya University. He became a Professor in 1999 at Zonguldak Karaelmas University. He served as a faculty member and the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Zonguldak Karaelmas University in between 2000 and 2008.  He also worked as a minister advisor at the Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Transport in between May 2004 to 2007. He taught mechanical courses as well as other courses such as History of Science, Philosophy of Science and Birth and Development of Modern Science at university. He published studies in the form of article and book, which are related with his academic area of engineering, mechanical and as well as the philosophy of science and technology, higher education and other cultural fields. He was appointed as a member of the Council of Higher Education in February 2008 and 2012 and he still works as an Executive Board Member at the Council of Higher Education.

 

Nusayba Megat Johari

Nusayba Megat Johari obtained her B.Eng (Civil Engineering) from UPM in 2006 and joined the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) in 2007. She is currently serving as a Senior Research Officer for the Highway and Traffic Engineering Unit under the Road Safety Engineering and Environment Research Centre. Her research area is mainly in Pedestrian Safety - School children. She is also highly involved in Road Assessment Programmes under the International Road Assessment Programme and has conducted various coder training within the ASEAN region. Nusayba is currently involved in the development of Malaysia’s first portable road assessment system, the Road Attribute Data Logger and Inspection System RADIS.

 

Dr. Myrzakhmetov M.

Dr. Myrzakhmetov M. was awarded the B.Sc. Degree from Kazakh Chemical Technology Institute (Shymkent), and from 1959-1964 he enrolled as a postgraduate student and warded the M. Sc. in Civil Engineer (Water Supply and Water Treatment) and finally from 1967-1971 he registered and got the Ph. D. Degree from Leningrad Engineering-Construction Institute in the field of  Water Supply and Water Treatment. He got the title of Doctor of technical sciences in 1971, Professor in 1990, Academician form National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 1994, Academician of the Moscow Engineering Academy in 1995.He serviced in the Kazakh National Technical University named after K.I. Satpayev as the Dean of the Faculty of Construction Engineering Systems then the Head of Department of Engineering Systems. Also, he participated in implementation of State Republic budget for scientific research from 2001-2005.  He worked on 2011-2020 plan of the Agency of Construction and Housing and Communal Services participated in development of the Republican Program of Complex Modernization of Housing and Communal Services. He was also nominated as a member in the Water Resources Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He worked as a consultant for the projects on water supply.  Throughout his academic service, he authored more than 386 scientific articles, have 28 patents and medals, 12 scientific monographs and manuals. Professionally, he is the head of the Ecology Department of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Member of the Social Scientific Council of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Member of the Scientific-Expert Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Member of the Scientific-Technology Council of the Almaty Akimat (City Administration), Member of the Scientific Councils of Kazakh National Technical University  and the Institute of Construction and architecture. He obtained the State Award of the Republic of Kazakhstan for his works in “Ensuring of Ecological Safety of Waste Water in Almaty” in 2005, Honored Figure of Labour of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

 

Ir. Dr Zuraida

Ir. Dr Zuraida obtained her B.Eng. (Materials Engineering) in 1992, from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang and continued with MSc (Materials Engineering) in UMIST, Manchester and graduated a year later. She work with SIRIM Berhad as Research Engineer for 6 years before accepting offer to further study in PhD in Engineering in International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and awarded Doctor of Philosophical in 2005. Currently, she attached with Manufacturing and Materials Engineering Department, Kulliyyah of Enginerring, IIUM. Her research interest are in Polymer composites and biomaterials and just 5 years back she started her research in engineering education related area. She also involved in the Islamisation of Human Knowledge (IoHK) which is the niche area of IIUM and has published numbers of articles on it on top of other articles on her research interest findings.

 

 Zeti Kasman

Zeti Kasman has more than 18 years’ experience in technical and interpersonal training skills and facilitating successful technical Training Programs. She obtained her Higher National Diploma in Electronic & Electrical Engineering from De Montfort University, Leicester in 1997, B.Eng (Instrumentation System & Electronic) in 2008 from IUCTT and M. Eng (Management) in 2014 from UPM. She held various technical engineering positions in giant multi-national manufacturing companies in Production Engineering from Asahi (M) Sdn Bhd, Process Engineer from Natsteel (M) Sdn Bhd and QA Reliability Engineer from Cannon (M) Sdn Bhd. She started her technical academic career in Manpower Department Institutions in 2001 in Computer Engineering and has extensively involved in training research and planning for the past 14 years in Motivational & Self Development Programs, Technical Skills Program i.e. Computer Networking, Curriculum Development Base on Vocational Ability Structure (CUDBAS), Interviewing Skill, Teambuilding, Train of the Trainer, Effective Communication and Networking. She has appointed as a consultant for Human Resources Development Center (HRDC) Malaysia in Training Need Analysis program and experienced trainer skilled in interpersonal skills and facilitating successful technical training programs for trainee of up to 5000 participants. She conducted a company support mainly using CUDBAS methodology to increase the productivity and organization continuous improvement (KAIZEN).  She is expert in developing training materials and presenting programs in a stimulating manner using a combination of personality, multimedia and group exercises. She has also presented his work as a trainer at Malaysian Skill Competition.
